Dries Van Noten turns fictional cinema into a Spring/Summer 2027 collection
Julian Klausner used invented movie posters, glamour codes and layered styling to frame Dries Van Noten’s latest Paris show.
Dries Van Noten’s Spring/Summer 2027 presentation drew on the rituals of dressing for a night out, with creative director Julian Klausner imagining a world of made-up films. Their titles appeared across silk dresses, loose tops, trench coats and midi skirts, giving the collection a narrative device without relying on real movie properties. Dazed reported that the concept followed Klausner’s interest in the transformation that happens when someone experiments with clothes in front of a mirror.
The runway combined leopard-print tops, transparent outer layers, crystal-covered tailoring and brightly patterned skirt suits. Brooches, belts and red lipstick were treated as familiar signals of glamour, but the styling softened their formality through mixed layers and deliberately less polished combinations. For a fashion business, the approach shows how a recognisable cultural theme can be translated into multiple product categories, from occasionwear and accessories to everyday separates, while giving the collection a coherent visual identity.
