Vaccarello marks Saint Laurent anniversary with a golden SS27 show
Dazed reports that Anthony Vaccarello’s 10th-anniversary collection intensified speculation about his future at Saint Laurent.
Anthony Vaccarello used Saint Laurent’s SS27 presentation to mark nearly a decade at the house, presenting 59 looks beneath the Eiffel Tower. Dazed says 49 were dominated by metallic gold, reworking familiar house codes including sharp tailoring, trench coats, pencil skirts, broad shoulders and ruffled blouses. The closing 10 looks switched to black, creating a stark contrast with the collection’s brighter opening.
The show’s scale and symbolism fuelled online speculation that Vaccarello could be preparing to leave. A large front row included Saint Laurent supporters from fashion, music and film, while other designers were also present. The staging echoed the grand interiors associated with Yves Saint Laurent, with Eiffel Tower-shaped chandeliers above the runway.
The finale added to the sense of a possible farewell: Charlotte Gainsbourg sang a tribute, before Vaccarello joined her and handed keys to his five-year-old son. Dazed presents the moment as suggestive rather than confirmed, but the production underscored the strength of his current creative legacy at the brand.
