Milan designers pair practical dressing with feathers, fur and bold texture
Milan Fashion Week’s new creative leadership produced a mix of workwear, historical references, sculptural outerwear and decorative accents.
The Associated Press, published by iNFOnews.ca, reports that Milan Fashion Week closed after six days marked by new creative directors and high-profile guests. Gucci, Fendi and Marni presented under new leadership, while Giorgio Armani showed under Silvana Armani. Other houses, including Bottega Veneta and Jil Sander, staged second collections from their designers. Prada presented its ideas through only 15 models, using repeated changes of clothing to demonstrate complex layering.
The season’s commercial signals leaned toward polished workwear, including suits, structured coats and updated shirts, but designers softened the restraint with feathers, upcycled fur, animal patterns and vivid outerwear. Bottega Veneta referenced Milan’s Brutalist architecture before moving into colourful fiberglass pieces, while Marni mixed knitwear with contrasting materials. The collections suggest that brands are responding to uncertainty with useful wardrobe staples, while retaining enough surface interest to encourage consumer spending.
